TNC gallery: Duck decoy

Mallard duck decoy, made by The Poitevin Brothers Mississippi C.1926-40. Hand carved, very nice comb painting on the back and two beautiful glass eyes. This model can be seen in Ken Trayer's book North American Factory Decoys page 300.

We live in a world where mass production has taken over the individual craftsmanship. As I said in prior statements, I have been influenced all my life by the Bauhaus school and its visionary leader Walter Gropius. "Architects, painters, sculptors, we must all return to crafts!".
